Christle Rawlins-Jackson, proprietor of Jácra Design Studio uses many mediums to convey messages, ideas or impressions. Ancestral quilt was inspired by the need to preserve and honor family history by creating a visual document of her maternal family. Ancestral quilt has been exhibited in many museums throughout the US.
Queen Mother was created to acknowledge the power of the feminine spirit and the ever-present life essence embodied in every women. The quilt hopefully serves as a reminder of the opportunity to be mentored and guided by the griots around us.
Cape Coast Castle is inspired by the many visits to the slave forts along the coast of Ghana. It is part of a series yet to be completed. That will chonicle the story of Africans who were captured and housed at Cape Coast Castle slave dungeon before forcibly being taken from Africa
